'I want to knock Chelsea out of the Champions League and I can score at Stamford Bridge with my eyes closed'...said Drogba
Didier Drogba has fired a warning to Chelsea ahead of their Champions League tie against Galatasaray, declaring: ‘I can score at Stamford Bridge even with my eyes closed’.
The Ivorian netted 157 times for the Blues during eight decorated seasons in west London which culminated in the 2012 Champions League victory.
Now Drogba is preparing to face his former club in the last 16 of the same competition with the first leg in Istanbul on February 26, while he is sure to receive a rousing reception from the home support when the tie is decided three weeks later.
And the 35-year-old striker said: ‘Stamford Bridge is my house. I could score there even with my eyes closed.
‘I left the club on a high and I think the supporters really loved what I did.
‘I really enjoyed the time that I spent there and loved them and I still do.
‘But now I am Galatasaray player and can give everything for this team.’
Drogba, though, believes that the first match between the sides will go a long way to determining who progresses.
‘Everything will depend on this game,’ he went on.
‘It is not going to be easy because I know this team, the manager and players. It is going to be very very difficult but this is football and you never know.
‘First, we need to do something in İstanbul. İf we want to believe in qualification, we need to do something in İstanbul and have to take good result.’
